Our Weekend in Whitton

By Sophie Beaven

In February 2012, a group of young people from the Benefice took an amazing trip to Whitton Church, in London, to sing in their choir. We were with a group of Whitton children for the weekend and together we rehearsed some of their songs to sing on Sunday morning in their service.

Also we took a trip to St. Paul’s Cathedral and had a guided tour with a member of staff; it was absolutely incredible. The Cathedral was a beautiful building with lots of statues and monuments. As a group we all got the opportunity to go up and have a go in the Whispering Gallery; it really worked!

We all had a sleepover in the Church Hall and together everyone enrolled in lots of different activities, including a Talent Show! Even Whitton’s Rev Stephen joined in. As well as this we made flavoured puddings and drank hot chocolate in the evening, before tucking up and listening to Chris Lawton’s long ‘Monk’ story. It was a fun weekend enjoyed overall by everyone.
