Christmas Eve 2021 Carol Service - St Leonard’s Church, Semley

The Semley Christmas Eve Carol Service will take place as usual at 6.00 pm. Booking your place will not be necessary this year, but please note that space will be limited compared to pre-pandemic times. There will be no crowding shoulder to shoulder in the aisles! So, please arrive early and be aware that you could be turned away if all seats are taken. There is unlikely to be any socially distanced seating available for this service.

Please take a lateral flow test before coming to the service and wear a mask. Arrangements will be kept under review, so please check the weekly newsletter or this website for any updates.

Despite the ongoing precautions we do hope you will be able to join us for a joyous and uplifting service at the beginning of Christmas!

20th December 2021 Update: this service will now take place outside the church in the churchyard due to the developing COVID-19 Omnicron situation.

Semley Village Fete - 4th June 2022

semley fete logo

Save The Date!

Semley's much loved traditional fete will this year be on the Saturday of the four-day celebrations planned to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Help us celebrate by joining us on Church Green, in the centre of the village, starting at 2.30pm.

Musical entertainment will be provided by the fabulous Bell Street Jazz Band. Refreshments will be available in the form of cream teas and a Pimm's tent. There will be children's donkey rides throughout the afternoon, gift and produce stalls, a fantastic raffle and a chance to try your luck at welly-wanging, the ever popular crockery smash or the coconut shy.

This year will see the return of the hugely successful pop-up boutique so look out your pre-loved and still in good condition clothes, bags, shoes and other accessories NOW. We are looking for women's, men's, teens' and children's clothes. Get in touch with Joanne to arrange drop off or collection - click here, and when the new window opens, select the 'Contact Form' tab to send an email to Joanne. Please do this ideally by the end of March to allow the stall organisers time to sort and price the items.

We are also delighted to announce that the dog show will be back by popular demand. Donations of plants and produce are always welcome. We will let you know where to drop them off nearer the time.

So put the date in your diaries and on your calendars and we look forward to seeing you!

Semley Fete 2019

semley fete logo

Despite the wind and a distant threat of rain, Semley's Annual Village Fete was once again a great success. The Bell Street Jazz Band set the tone with their brilliant and uplifting playing entertaining those enjoying tea and cake or Pimms as well as those busy bargain hunting or taking part in the many games on offer. A group of children from Semley School sang during the band's break and it was wonderful to see their happy faces enjoying their performance before they ran off again to have more fun. The attractions included face painting, donkey rides, crockery smashing and the ever-popular coconut shy. There were long queues for the bottle stall and this year some brave folk even volunteered to have sponges thrown at them while they were in the stocks. Two other new attractions, the Pop-Up Boutique, which stocked nearly new clothes, and the Pimms' tent were both a huge success and hopefully will become part of the Semley Fete traditions. Everywhere you looked there were smiling faces. It is a wonderful day when the community comes together to raise money for our village.

The Semley Fete Committee would like to thank everyone who worked so hard putting it together. Those who put up and take down the tents, everyone who comes along on the day, every plant lovingly planted to be sold and every cake baked help make it a perfect summer's day. The fete raised £5,400 which will be used to continue to support local causes. Many thanks.
