Produce StallVillage Produce Stall

at Crossrivers
9.00 am to 6.00 pm every day until 31st October 2016

Run by Chris York, with a good deal of support from other villagers, the stall sells plants, cuttings, seeds, cut flowers, vegetables and fruit. What’s on offer changes every day so do have a look. Chris welcomes offers of plants and produce to go on the stall.

The Friends’ Stall

St Andrew’s Church
after services on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sundays of the month from Sunday 11th September to Sunday 11th December 2016

The Friends’ Stall at the 2016 Church Fete on 29th August did a healthy amount of business. The stall will be open at all our fundraising events in the run up to Christmas and will also be open after church services on the second, third and fourth Sundays of the month. The range of merchandise on sale continues to grow; all of it produced by local artists. In addition to limited edition prints, montages, notelets and postcards - all of which make excellent Christmas and birthday presents - there are ten Christmas card designs on offer with prices starting at 10 cards with envelopes for £1.00.

New for this autumn are the winning designs from the 2016 Christmas Card Competition run amongst the children of the congregation and village; the winning designs have been printed and are now on sale.

Update On The Development Project

The PCC made its formal application to the Diocesan Advisory Committee in May 2016. This is the final stage of approval that St Andrew’s Church needs before the PCC can formally petition the Chancellor of the Diocese to grant us a Faculty. After some weeks, the DAC responded with complimentary comments about St Andrew’s plans and a list of requests for further detail on aspects of the scheme. The Development Committee and the Development Project architect have spent a good deal of time working on a response over the summer months. In early September, a supplementary document was sent to the DAC, providing the additional information.

Tim Harry, the Chairman of the Development Committee, very sadly left Donhead St Andrew at the beginning of September to live in Sherborne. The PCC is very grateful to Tim for his outstanding chairmanship of the Development Committee since its inception. Everyone wishes Tim and Sam well in their new home in Sherborne.

George Lisle, another member of the Development Committee and the PCC has taken over as Chairman of the Development Committee.

Update On The Development Appeal

The Friends’ Committee is please to report that we have now raised £273,000 to fund the Development Project. This includes recent contributions from members of the village community, a 5% share of the 2016 Church Fete proceeds, the income from the Friends’ Stall at the 2016 Church Fete and the money raised to date in 2016 by the Village Produce Stall.
