There are two prayers this month, very different but both about forgiveness.

The first is by the poet Christina Rossetti:

O Lord Jesus, because, being full of foolishness,
we often sin and have to ask pardon,
help us to forgive as we would be forgiven,
neither mentioning old offences committed against us,
nor dwelling on them in thought.
nor being ifluenced by them in heart.
But loving our brother freely,
as You have freely loved us.
For Your Name's sake.  Amen.

Here is modern prayer from the heart by someone called Nancy Martin:

Dear God, I find it so hard to forgive those who are unkind to me,
Or those who blame me for the things which are not my fault.
I go on bearing a grudge even when they try to make up.
It makes me feel bitter and hard.
I know this is wrong.
When Peter asked Jesus how many times he should forgive,
Jesus just gave an impossible number,
meaning go on and on forgiving.
Jesus even prayed for his persecutors from the Cross.
Please help me to be more like him.  Amen

Prayers of the Month

This little prayer is by Gail Ricciuti:

For all things bright and beautiful,
For all things dark and mysterious and lovely.
For all things green and growing and strong,
For all things weak and struggling to push life up through rocky earth.
For all human faces, hearts, minds and hands which surround us,
And for all non human minds and hearts paws and claws, fins and wings,
For this life and the life of this world,
For all that You have laid before us O God,
We lay our thankful hearts before You,
In Christ’s Name. Amen

And this little Prayer from a book of Infant prayers, which somehow can apply to all of us no matter what age we are:

When I wake up in the morning,
Thank you God for being there.
When I come to school each day,
Thank You God for being there.
When I am playing with my friends
Thank You God for being there,
And when I go to bed at night,
Thank You God for being there.

Prayer of the Month

This Prayer is from "The Prayer Tree" by Michael Leunig.

Sometimes it is important to remember that as God made us all different, he must enjoy those differences and our sometimes strange reactions to events. This little prayer is a reminder of that and tells us to enjoy our differences as well.

God bless our contradiction, those
parts of us which seem out of character.
Let us be boldly and gladly out of
character. Let us be creatures of paradox
and variety: creatures of contrast; of
light and shade: creatures of faith, God
be our constant. let us step out of
character into the unknown, to struggle
and love and do what we will. Amen.

Prayer Of The Month

This modern prayer by Gail Ricciuti is loosely based on one of our most popular hymns and is just right for this time of year.

For all things bright and beautiful,
For all things dark and mysterious and lovely,
For all things green and growing and strong,
For all things weak and struggling to push life up through rocky earth,
E For all human faces, hearts and minds which surround us,
For all non human minds and hearts, paws and claws, fins and wings,
For this life, and the life of this world,
For all that You have laid before us O God,
We lay our thanks before you, in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.

Prayer Cycle and Prayer of the Month - May 2018

The Prayer Cycle continues to pray for anyone in need. Please let us have your prayer requests - prayer really works. Contact us: Julia (tel: 01747 829166), The Rev’d June (tel: 01747 828427) or The Rev’d Richard (tel: 01747 830174).

In May, we remember The Ascension of Jesus, the time when He returned to His Father in Heaven. This Prayer by Rex Chapman is about this Season.

Jesus, You are not only risen and alive, you are Lord.
This is your ascension, your ascendancy over the whole Universe.
You stand over and above all that is best in life as it's source.
You stand above all that is worse as ultimate victor.
You stand above all powers and authorities as judge,
You stand above all weakness, failure and sin as forgiveness and love.
You alone are worthy of total commitment, total allegiance.
You are Lord.
My Lord and God.

Amen

Prayer Cycle and Prayer of the Month - April 2018

The Prayer Cycle continues to pray for anyone in need - please let us have your prayer requests: Contact us: Julia (tel: 01747 829166), The Rev’d June (tel: 01747 828427) or The Rev’d Richard (tel: 01747 830174).

We all have friends. This Prayer is about our relationship with them and with God.

We have friends. Thank you for them Lord.
But some of them forget us as we forget them, but You never do.
Sometimes we are unkind to each other, but You never are unkind.
Some of our friendships are fickle, best friends one day, but almost enemies the next.
Our relationship with You is not like that, it is with someone who is always the same, always there, always reliable, constant and unchanging.
Thank You Lord that You are my friend, true, unfailing, always just there.
Amen.
